Chloyster [she/her]@beehaw.orgMto Gaming@beehaw.org•What are your favorite metroidvanias?1·6 days agohollow knight silksong- Hollow Knight
- Islets
- Ender lilies
- Ori and the will of the wisps (don’t love blind forest personally)
- Blasphemous 1 and 2
- Pretty much all the 2d metroids, especially Dread
- Guacamelee 1 and 2
- The messenger kinda
- Steamworld dig 2
- Animal Well
Oh and what I like about them. Exploration is 90% of a good metroidvania for me. Unlocking abilities and finding secrets in old locations is just my favorite gameplay loop. I don’t tend to love super linear metroidvanias a-la Metroid fusion, though it’s still a good game. But exploration usually can’t be all of it. Combat if it’s there should be decent at best, puzzles are always good. But really if exploration isn’t there just right I probably won’t love it. Also most of these I play on steam deck / PC. Except metroid

Just ranted at my parents for still supporting the nyt after all this shit. Like it’s these media groups that are responsible for this. They platform the arguments directly used in the supreme Court case. Im just so sick of mainstream legacy media both sidesing every fucking issue. They are going to lead us to our downfall. They move the Overton window. Like yeah I know the supreme Court is conservative whatever what I said isn’t wrong. The NYT are partially culpable here. Fuck me there goes my week / month / year whatever. Can’t take this news rn

A ton of seats up. Shitty center right mayor. Shitty right wing city attorney. Shitty right wing city council president, among others.
The current city attorney was voted in 4 years ago in 2021

She didn’t run on that at all. It was a tweet from long before the election that the right wing used to tarnish her
Chloyster [she/her]@beehaw.orgOPto Politics@beehaw.org•Op-Ed: ICE Tactical Units Are Preparing to Deploy in Seattle — We Must Fight Back - The Urbanist33·9 days agoFriendly reminder that Seattle’s current city attorney is a trump backing Republican who was elected all because Seattle at the time was too scared of a candidate who once talked about abolishing the police.
The author here is running for the position and if you’re in Seattle I highly encourage supporting him. We have a chance to drastically shift the center right city government that has plagued our city these last few years

They fail to see that adding more housing in Seattle will prevent hundreds of trees not being cut down in the new suburbs being built in our forested areas

The political implications are too big to ignore here. Especially given the event being in LA with all the shit going on. Also like as a particularly targeted person in this fascist administration, it really doesn’t feel great for people to use fascist iconography to make a stupid joke!
Also like splitgate 2? Really? The game that during this announcement announced a battle royale mode? The most tired shooter mode since hero shooters? And the one that had $145 microtransactions on launch? This is the savior of fps gaming?
Nah

Chloyster [she/her]@beehaw.orgMto Gaming@beehaw.org•Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour || Review Thread2·14 days agoUnfortunately apart from a scraper / parser being written I don’t see a way to do it easily
Yeah for essentially $50 with the bundle it’s not bad
Well I can already predict this thread will be full of comments on the price so I’ll go ahead and give actual impressions on the game.
It’s really good! The free roam mode is maybe a bit more bare bones than I thought it would be but it’s still great fun driving around and doing challenges. Some of the challenges are legitimately difficult and some of the special ones have taken me ages to complete. The driving feels great, the new movement mechanics are really fun. Knockout tour is absolutely the star here and a great new mode. The AI is harder this time around which makes racing against them much more fun in my opinion.
Overall I’ve been having an amazing time. I do think $80 is steep. But that aside, the game is outstanding

Edit: I believe there is an option in special settings to turn infinite ammo off

Rumors say there is a proper “next gen” version coming so probably wouldn’t hurt to wait a bit. Games not going anywhere :)
